Typically it takes about 2 days to set up a merchant account. When you speak with your customer service representative, you will decide on the type of account you will need. Once this is figured out, you will need to decide on equipment. For retail, you will need to decide on a terminal. For internet, you will need to decide on the gateway. You will decide on this at the time of your application so at that time, you can purchase your equipment. Installation of equipment and programming of a gateway can take up to a week. All the time factors will be explained to you fully when you send in your application.
